Knife Crime

There is an alarming number of young children who take blades to school. Knowing how many children and teenagers carry knives because of gangs and other criminal activity is frightening. Knives are a growing issue in schools, and many people who carry knives are unaware of the social and physical harm that comes with doing so. Educating young people on the severity of knife crime is imperative to getting children on the right path early in life.

What is classed as Knife Crime?

Knife crime is a significant public safety issue in many countries, and it can have devastating consequences for victims and their families. Efforts to address knife crime often involve increased law enforcement, education and awareness campaigns, and community-based initiatives aimed at preventing violence and promoting positive behaviours. At MW Impact we deliver a gang affiliation programme which involves vital knife crime education for children and young people in educational institutions and communities.

Gang Affiliation

In our society, gang affiliation is a growing problem, and this mentoring programme tackles many current topics that must be addressed before things spiral out of control, including knife crime.

Why is Knife Crime Education Important?

It's important we at MW Impact, educate children on knife crime because it helps prevent them from becoming victims or perpetrators of violent crimes involving knives. Here are some reasons why:

Safety : Children & young people who understand the dangers of knife crime are more likely to take steps to avoid dangerous situations and protect themselves from harm.

Understanding the consequences : By learning about the legal and social consequences of knife crime, children can gain a better understanding of how their actions can have serious and long-lasting consequences.

Encouraging positive behaviour : Education on knife crime can help promote positive behaviours and attitudes, such as conflict resolution skills, respect for others, and non-violent ways of dealing with conflicts.

Reducing fear : By learning about knife crime and how to stay safe, children can reduce their fear and anxiety about potentially dangerous situations.

Empowering children : Education on knife crime can empower children with the knowledge and skills they need to make safe and responsible decisions, and to speak up and seek help when they or others are in danger.
